Hiking vacation is not only a vacation, it is also medicine for body and soul!

Discover Gothenburg & Bohusleden!  4 days / 3 nights

Discover the fantastic surroundings around Gunnebo Castle, hike in primeval forest with grumpy nature and crystal clear lakes, prepare your food over an open fire, the food never tastes as good as out in nature.

Try good wines at the Nordic region’s first city wine producer, spend an evening in vibrant Gothenburg, which offers something for everyone.

DAY 1 – WELCOME!

Check in at Lisebergsbyn, here you live right next to Bohusleden. Hiking begins to the south. First stage goes from Skatås to Kåsjön. On the way you pass Härlanda pond, maybe it is time for a cooling dip, if you have the children with you there is a popular nature playground. Do you like birds? Here you can take a detour of 400m where you will find a bird tower to watch birds from.

Up on the mountain Getryggen you will find a wonderful view of Gothenburg and Sävedalen, therefore we recommend a coffee break at the windbreak. The hike continues along dramatic ravines and a wonderful mix of barren rocky terrain and lush deciduous forest. There are also good chances to see game such as moose and deer, but even the smaller animals are worthy of your attention as badgers, foxes and hares.

Now you can choose to end the day’s hike or continue into the next stage which leads you to Gunneboslott, where we highly recommend that you enjoy a dinner before you hop on the bus home.

DAY 2 – HIKEING & WINE TASTING

Today you will hiking to north. You start from Kåsjön, where we recommend a bath and lunch at the bathing place’s serving. You walk through old and beautiful natural forest until you come to Jonsered’s old mill community.

Jonsered is a former typical mill town and bears a clear Scottish character as almost the entire mill community was built by the Scottish entrepreneur William Gibson in the early 1840s. Today you will find a restaurant, hotel and café among the old industrial premises. Wander around and feel the wings of history from the time of the working community. The height difference between Lake Aspen and Säveån gave hydropower to the industries.

Do not miss Jonsered’s Gardens, which is a free interpretation of the 19th century garden that once stood on the site. If you want, you can have a coffee in the garden café.

Then you hop on the tram to get there Wine Mechanics – the Nordic region’s first urban wine producer. Wine Mechanics is located in Gammlestadens slaughterhouse area in the old slaughterhouse, where it offers a spectacular atmosphere in the older premises. A matter of course is a wine tasting together with your three-course menu.

From there, buses and trams run continuously that can take you home or why not continue to discover Gothenburg!

DAY 3 – COOKING OUT IN NATURE!

After breakfast you will be picked up by car to take you to the next stage – Svartedalen nature reserve. You get a light lunch in your backpack. You walk through an old cultural landscape, where several croft ruins let us guess what life was like for those who once lived here.

You arrive at Ålevattnet where your camp for the evening is. There you will find instructions for cooking your food over an open fire and enjoy the silence, the forest, the lake and your company.

DAY 4 – LAST STAGE

The last hike is in mysterious old primeval forest with untamed grumpy nature. Along the way there are plenty of lakes to cool off in. Food for the day you have in your backpack, and pause when you feel like it. Here you settle down where you stand in the forest!

When the hike is over, transfer back to Stenungsunds Station awaits. (If you want a transfer to Gothenburg or Landvetter airport, this can be arranged)
