As a child, to experience nature, play freely in the Swedish fantastic forest and swim in the unique lakes, it creates memories that many carry with them for the rest of their lives. For us at Sweden West coast experience, all family members are welcome to attend the hiking holiday, even the youngest ones. Give yourself an adventure to talk about, a hiking trip for the curious senses and playful legs.
Lunch We will pick you up at the station in Stenungsund at 9.00 am and continue to Svartedalens nature reserve. Before we start the day we are going to give you all the information you will need for the hiking adventure such as maps, food and our best hiking tips for the day. Then it’s time for some swedisch fika at Ålevattnet which will make you are ready for a day of hiking.
AfternoonThe hiking trail (12 km) is well excellent and you make your way along winding paths where moss and conifers make the paths. In the backpack we have packed a picnic, good to have when the energy runs out during the day’s hike.
This stage can be a bit strenuous in some places and takes about 4-5 hours to walk plus a break. Along the hike, there are plenty of lakes to swim in. Depending on what you think your children can do, we can adapt the hike, by starting in the middle of the stage.
NightYou have plenty of time to get to the evening camp where you will be met by a tent already set up.
You will also find the ingredients and recipes for tonight’s dinner. It is now time to light a fire. Cooking over an open fire is an experience in itself, convivial, crackling and tasteful.
If you have more energy left, there is the opportunity to fish or just relax by the lake. Fishing rods can be borrowed for the evening’s activities.
MorningA summer morning by the lake where you enjoy the silence and the sound from the insects. Take a refreshing morning swim and enjoy the view from the cliffs before breakfast.
After breakfast, it’s time for today’s hiking adventure. A three-hour tour around Gårdsjön (around 7 km).
The area was hit in the 1960s by an extensive fish death caused by sulfur deposition and acidification. Today, world-unique research is conducted on air pollutants and their effects on water, plant and animal life. The research is carried out with sensitive measuring equipment and has been going on for a long time.
You’re not allowed to walk near appliances, cables or other technical equipment. The research that is going on here is important for us all to have a healthy and rich nature in the future.
Enjoy the day, swim from the cliffs, fish and play around in the forest – make new memories. Here it is important to feel the children’s power, strength and desire to discover.
Lunch You have brought your lunch from the tent camp. Eating a classic sandwich filled with goodies in the forest’s most unique place gives you flexibility for how you want to spend your day. Let the childrem show the way and have a day just for yourself in the woods or by the lake.
NightWhen you are back it’s time for tonight’s dinner. We provide you with firewood, ingredients and equipment and promise that the dinner is tasty, easy to cook and gives you time to just be before it’s time to crawl into the tent for the last night in the woods.
MorgningA new morning to take a swim in the lake and breakfast by the cliffs. Before you will return back to the city it’s time to disassemble the tent. We will meet you and take you to Stenungsund station or another agreed place for departure.
Your adventure in Bohuslän’s magic forests is over for this time and together we have created memories for life.
